LIBRA Also known as The Scales, Libra is the only sign of the Zodiac represented by an inanimate object. Because I wanted to add life to this rendition of the sign, I chose to add some Judaic concepts into the traditional Greek representation, which often associates the scales with the maiden from the preceding sign, Virgo. My concept adds the idea of Justice, and the Old Testament ark of the covenant as the mercy seat/footstool of Yahweh, therefore the seat of Justice/Judgement… thus the two angels harken to Cherubim, but here holding the scales in a similar manner to the Levites carrying the ark. The scale contraption would actually work… what can I say?
